The Judeo-Christian tradition is woven through with song. And not just song for song’s sake, but song as prayer. Join us for a day of exploring song as prayer including: psalms, instrumental music, chant & more. This retreat is for anyone interested in exploring our topic regardless of musical ability. Though there will be opportunities to participate in musical prayer, retreatants who may prefer to “just listen” will be welcome to do so. Those who wish to stay on may conclude the day by attending a free evening dress-rehearsal of Mozart’s Requiem, a masterpiece of musical prayer, in the Jesuit Center’s beautiful chapel.

About the Presenters . . .
Mark Beazley has been involved in church and pastoral ministry for over 20 years. Mark loves being in a ministry of helping people experience God’s presence and journeying with others who are determined to keep pressing into a life that God holds out to all of us. Mark holds a masters in Spiritual Formation & Leadership from Spring Arbor University, Michigan. He has been married to Kim for 25 years and lives in West Chester, PA with their two teenagers, Ian and Tessa. Michele Whitley has been making music since she was a little girl. Her first grade solo as Smurfette remains a favorite memory. She joined the Kairos “Circle of Friends” in 2002 as a student and has been the piano accompanist for Kairos prayer services since 2008. Michele has been singing, playing piano, and attempting to play guitar for years, including grade school and college choirs and various church groups. She considers herself an “ecumenical mutt” since she has been able to spend time attending a variety of Christian denominations and exploring eastern philosophy. Currently, she attends Blossom Hill Mennonite Church. Michele finds music to be an intersection between the body and spirit and appreciates exploring this connection with others. She lives in Lancaster, PA where she enjoys finding ways to be creative in the financial services industry.
