Course Description . . .
The course is being offered for Spiritual Directors who have been practicing for at least 4 years and are seeking to be trained to provide supervision to other directors. Classes meet monthly and consist of enrichment topics, as well as supervision based upon verbatim reports. Students must be supervising at least one Spiritual Director who is currently offering spiritual direction.
This program focuses on the ministry that supervisors offer to spiritual directors. It strengthens the supervisor’s ability to: create and respond to the ministry of spiritual direction from a contemplative foundation; foster an on-going co-discernment of God’s will within the directee; discern God’s movement within the director and directee; support the development of the director’s unique gifts and skills; and assess the development of these gifts and skills
Being Contemplative as a Supervisor . . .

- To experience a contemplative and evocative approach in the process of supervision;
- To teach processes for both individual and group supervision;
- To develop more refined skills of discernment applied to this experience;

Carolynne Ervin, holds an MA in Christian Spirituality from Creighton University, Omaha, NE. She received a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from the SSJ Center for Spirituality, Chestnut Hill, PA and a Certificate in Supervision of Spiritual Direction from Mercy Center in Burlingame, CA.
Carolynne was Coordinator of the Spiritual Direction Practicum at Chestnut Hill College for 14 years. She joined KAIROS faculty in September 2014 and she has been on staff of both the SSJ Center for Spirituality in Chestnut Hill, PA and the Jesuit Center for Spiritual Growth, Wernersville, PA. Carolynne is currently a visiting director at St. Mary’s by the Sea, Cape May Point, NJ. She has been involved in the ministry of spiritual direction and has directed retreats, as well as the training and supervision of spiritual directors for over 30 years.
Tuition & Fees
This class meets monthly on Saturdays of KAIROS retreat weekends from September through May. Classes begin 9:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. (includes lunch) at the Jesuit Center,Wernersville, PA.
APPLICATION FEE: $75
COST of TUITION: $1,650
The first tuition payment ($550) is due September 1, 2015.
Second portion of tuition payment ($550) is due December 1, 2015.
The final tuition payment ($550) is due on March 1, 2016.
Financial assistance is available on a very limited basis. Applicants are encouraged to seek other resources of funding from their local church or religious affiliations.
