A Contemplative Writer’s Retreat

Experiencing Epiphany through Ignatian Spirituality

Through journaling and writing reflections, meditations, poetry, prayers and other writing forms of your choice, our day will be an invitation to discover a deeper spirituality by responding to themes such as:

  • Where am I? How am I? Who am I?*
  • What is my deepest desire(s) and how do I get in touch with this?
  • Noticing: our consolations & desolations; our attachments and the desires & fears around letting go (detachment); and recognizing our true selves and false selves

Contemplative prayer forms will be available for opening ourselves to God and to our deepest selves, such as silence, lectio/visio divina, mindfulness walking, and more.

This day will be a contemplative retreat rather than a workshop, providing much personal time, some one-to-one sharing, and a gathering at the end. Those who stay for the dinner option may want to dine together or continue in silence. My hope is that it will be a day of sabbathing, epiphanies, communing in the Arms of Love, and savoring the precious words and wisdom (seeds) individually planned for our own hearts.

“The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it….”Isaiah 55:10-11

* Questions from “Inner Compass” (Loyola Press), Margaret Silf, 2010 (Reading this book is not required.)

Note: A week before our meeting, registrants will receive a handout to prayerfully consider before the retreat. Preparing our souls for the retreat is an imporant process that can give us the best possible experience.
